Dear festival-goers, dear No Logo Family,
The latest government announcements now leave no doubt that the 2020 edition of the No Logo Festival will not take place.
At first we wanted to believe in it, when the crisis seemed still far away, at the beginning of March, we kept hope. Confronted with this unprecedented situation, we imagined a return to normal at the beginning of the summer. We wanted to believe in it, not to give up anything, for you. To have the happiness of finding you again, to see you singing and dancing again on the lands of the No Logo, on your lands.
Then the vice quickly tightened, hitting the entire cultural sector and many others hard. We watched, with a heavy heart, as our confreres received their cancellation instructions, one by one, and it was then that doubts and uncertainties grew. We soon realized that the chances were becoming extremely slim. We then faced the contractual realities that prevented us from being able to anticipate the situation. All the complexity of our business model was then expressed even more strongly. How will we, as an independent festival, without public subsidies or patronage, which is undeniably fragile, make it through a blank year?
In spite of the doubts, we had to continue after the announcements of 13 April, while waiting, slowly, for clarity to be made by those in authority.
From now on, this painful and difficult time of waiting is over. No Logo 2020 will not take place. We won’t have the pleasure to open the doors of the Forges de Fraisans, or our beautiful campsite to you this summer. We won’t have the happiness to shout with you, to raise our hands in the air, to hear your countless “apéro” splitting the air and to admire you, smile, dance, sing, and above all LIVE TOGETHER.
These words are difficult to pronounce, but nevertheless necessary to look to the future. For despite this fragility that rhymes with our independence, we do not want to abandon you. We are already thinking ahead. More than anything else, we want to see you again in 2021.
We are now working hard to offer you, of course, the refund, but also other possibilities for those who would like to help us get through this complex year. We ask you to give us a few days of patience to let us prepare everything. We will come back to you as soon as possible when all the options are ready in order to explain everything to you.
The No Logo’s still there, we’re not giving up.
Our most sincere thoughts go to you, our festival-goers, also to all our friends and colleagues, to all our staff, to all the intermittent workers in the show business, to all the service providers, to all the artists and all the people without whom our jobs could not be. Let us remain united, and let us all rise up together.
As the No Logo hymn says, “Let’s come together and write another chapter.”
See you soon,
The No Logo Festival team.
