Grande Scène Y. Carou

Whether he’s singing on an acoustic guitar, elegant strings or more house or afropop productions, Lass’ flow and elegance pulls you out of the everyday with a smile. His first EP, more than a calling card, is a miniature world map, a concentrate of stories and simple philosophy delivered by a bewildering voice. Formed in the sound-systems of Dakar, LASS grew up rubbing shoulders with the Afro-Cuban sounds of the Baobab orchestra and Bembeya Jazz, in the Congolese rhumba parties organised by his brothers, before choosing reggae. Lass reconciles the secular heritage of the great African singers with the modern style of the new Afropop singers.
